Susan Spohn – Southwest vs Northeast – Artist Portfolio Magazine

I live in Mayberry, USA. No actually, I live in Salida, Colorado, a small, artistic town, if for no other reason than a LOT of artists call it home. I have a tiny upstairs studio that overlooks telephone poles, the alley, backyards, some trees, and a lot of squirrels. It is my private window on the world. Ordinary, but somehow magic happens.

I am a self-taught painter and have always had a big creative side to my life.  I have been selling my art at various art shows, shops and galleries since 1989.

I try to paint daily. Of course life gets in the way, and then I have a few days off…. I have worked in several mediums, including soft-sculpture. All experiences bring something to the table when creating art. Presently, I mainly work in oils. You learn a lot working in oils. I am facinated by them.
