Jim Haller – Berryville, VA

There were 3 big moments in my life that determined the type of artist I was going to be…

At the age of 9, I started reading Comic Books, and realized that all I wanted to do was create.

At the age of 15, I discovered Salvador Dali, and my art career began.

At the age of 23, I started to have a few health problems. That became my inspiration.

My work mostly acts as a diary. The things that I don’t like about myself, my fears, my obsessions…those are things that come out in my art. It is very therapeutic and gives me an opportunity to create just honest art. I work mostly with Pen & Ink. My stippling technique (creating images with repetitive dots) is almost meditative and seems appropriate for the subjects that I work with. My images are then stained with a variety of wood stains and varnish, which gives them an old, antique, and maybe forgotten-about look.

  1. Jim Haller gets my vote out of this lot. I HATE, by the way, having to differentiate between artists within one post. Have I said that ? – alas, I have.

  2. M-R – I understand your frustration, but that’s how we have it set up for the artists. If they submit 1-2 works of art they will normally have to share a page with another artist. If they submit 5 works of art they get their own page.
