This work,”Ruins” deals with my experience of taking back control. Time has started to erupt on my face and body via gravity and lines of wear leaving me feeling like a victim, powerless. By exaggerating my image with pixels and saturation, I claim ownership of how I want to be seen. I take my power back from Time. In addition, I imagine on a cellular level, that the pain and disappointments of life would appear on my face as depicted. I believe, each hurt, from our childhood on up, burrows into our perfect selves, and takes it’s toll over a lifetime. When I look in the mirror as I’m aging, the cellular pains seem to be coming to the surface more now than ever.
