Anastasia Morskaya is a Russian painter from Saint-Petersburg. She works in the genre of realism and hyperrealism. Anastasia believes that the underwater world is unique, amazing and beautiful. This is fantastic magic, magic of color and form. We live on land, but each of us wants to merge into a sea wave. Also, the artist reflects on the beauty of our world and the depth of the inner world of human. Thoughts take the form of fantastic images of incredibly beautiful and mysterious girls, their cryptic souls.
Anastasia studied at the Saint-Petersburg Art Academy named after Stieglitz at the Faculty of Graphic Design, and then she studied at the St. Petersburg University of Technology and Design at the Faculty of Advertising and Public Relations.
She participated in international competitions of art. She has been published in foreign magazines such as Inspades, Blouder, The Guide artists, Society6 Art Quarterly. The first exhibition was held in Moscow in IZO ART GALLERY. The personal exhibition “Three Depths” was held in St. Petersburg in the Metropolis Gallery.
The project “Three Depths” used the figure of the cosmos and the sea like an allegory of the obscurity of the human soul. As in the ideas of the authors of the project a third dimension was born, the third depth – the soul. All three dimensions are related. The abyss of the ocean is as unexplored as the vast expanses of space. The soul is as dark and mysterious as the underwater world.
“The most important part of my success and any other is passion for what I do. Passion for art ignites the flame inside me. I burn like a candle in the night. This fills me with a love of life. But my life would not be complete without another passion that inspires me to create my paintings on water themes. It’s a passion for travel. It’s in the process of cognition of new cities and countries, comes the realization of what my pictures should be like. Nothing would have happened without passion and travel.
To create my “marine” artworks I was inspired by the trip to Asia. For several months I lived in other countries, far from my relatives and friends. I learned the culture and life of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia. I even worked in Vietnam. I have already visited many interesting places on the planet in search of new sensations, emotions and knowledge. I had a lot of time to understand what I wanted to do when I got home.
My love of the sea is boundless. I can sit for hours and watch the movement of the waves. And what kind of palette is there! The sea can combine a plenty of colors at different times of the day. Water is life. And this life I try to put on canvas. The relationship between human and the element is the main theme of my work.
I’m deeply concerned about the pollution of the seas and oceans, the disappearance of many species of marine life. We just have to protect the underwater world from destruction. In my paintings I show how a person is harmonious with the water element, how much we feel at home here. And this home needs to be saved, so that we can continue to enjoy all the beauties of the underwater life”.
Now she is painting a series of artworks on the theme “Human and the sea”. The sea in her pictures is calm and serene. She wants to show it from the other side.
