Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between membership and pay-per-submission?
Memberships are recurring monthly subscriptions with ongoing access to entries, the digital magazine, and member features. Pay-per-submission is a one-time purchase for a single issue — no commitment, but no ongoing benefits.
What is the Founders Spotlight?
Starting with Issue 56, every issue features a rotating Founders Spotlight section showcasing three Founding Members (one 4-page feature + two 2-page features). Founding Members are rotated by signup order, so the first to join are featured first. Over time, every Founding Member gets featured at least once in this premium editorial section.
Is my submission guaranteed to be published?
Submissions through memberships and pay-per-submission are subject to editorial review. Only "Guaranteed Placement" spreads (full-page, two-page, four-page) come with guaranteed publication.
Can I cancel my membership at any time?
Yes. You can cancel any time from your member dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
When does pay-per-submission and guaranteed placement become available?
Starting with Issue 56 (Fall 2026). Issue 55 (the relaunch issue, July 2026) is exclusively for Founding Members.
Do I retain rights to my artwork?
Yes. You retain all copyright and ownership. By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive license to reproduce your work in print and digital editions of the magazine and on our website.
Why is membership better than buying single submissions?
If you submit more than 3-4 times per year, membership is significantly cheaper. Plus you get ongoing access to the magazine, member features, and consistent placement consideration.
What happens after Founding Member spots are gone?
Once the first 50 Founding Member spots are claimed, those rates close forever. New members can join at the regular Portfolio ($9/mo) or Print ($24/mo) tiers, which still include all the great benefits — just without the locked-in rate.
Competitions run quarterly — Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter. Founding member rates locked for life.
All paid memberships include digital magazine. Print member collector's copy valued at $30/issue.
