Beauty is the main reason and purpose for my art. I spare no obstacle in both challenging and expressing the power and mystery of beauty.

My favorite media are acrylics and watercolor. The subject matter are birds in their real or mythological interaction with the human universe. I strive to depict the dualistic nature of reality, conscious and subconscious states of the mind, and to create examples of modern mythology. My paintings explore a dream-conscious state in order to increase a depth of perception and to develop a poetic world view.

A multidisciplinary artist with a main focus on sculpture and engraving of material as diverse as actual natural eggshells to hand- forged steel. I find the strength and fragility of these two mediums themselves reflect my personality as well as my subject matter.

I am an expressionist artist and my work is concerned not with objective reality but is metaphorical — telling a story through the symbolism of life. I strive to evoke reactions either positive or negative. Distortion, exaggeration, and fantasy are the filters through which I paint the modern world. My work is not conventional, academic, or the new modernism. I am creating a new avant-garde.

I believe in equality and I want my work to reflect that. The stories in my paintings are situations that everyone faces equally, I paint them from the female perspective because, unfortunately, women are still targeted unfairly so I put them front and center to, in my way, show that we are all equal.

My works are an interpretation of a voyage to self-discovery seen through the eyes of retained memories. Memories are the driving force that sculpt my paintings. When placed onto the canvas, the sequences of these memories intermingle to expose, at times, a sense of uniformity while, at other times, a juxtaposition of emotions, perceptions and a melded reality.

What touches me deeply nowadays is the increasing disconnection that people experience between and within themselves.

The development of technology, which is meant to increase communication, is paradoxically limiting the situations that favor genuine contact and is creating a very fast paced reality.

My heritage, my travels and life experiences so far have given me the opportunity of exploring and expressing my ideas and emotions through the media of painting and photography. Through them I hope to visualize and create what I may not be able to communicate through actions or words. I hope to create something unique from the mundane, to celebrate life and share my culture and art with whoever is willing to see and appreciate it.

I present a portrait to my viewer and hope that they see in it what I saw or something completely different and maybe unleash the same emotions in the mind of the viewer, emotions that I felt and enjoyed.

I’ve been an artist since the age of ten but I didn’t discover myself until recently. Although I’ve had art courses and training in Commercial Art, Technical Illustration and The Dayton Art Institute I had a family to look after so at the age of 27 I walked away from art to put food on the table. Five years ago a good friend convinced me to step back up to it for his cigar box guitar business, I was unsure of doing so I hadn’t done any art in so long. But it came back so quickly and I realized what was missing from my life, art makes me happy and complete. Then I slowly discovered my own technique of pencil and white acrylic and how I could come back to realism in that fashion. To be able to bring the eyes of my subjects to life brought back a thrill to my art that I hadn’t known before. Now I wish to share it with the world.
