This work is a study of how nature and power rhyme. It is an exploration of candy-colored sensual puzzles printed on metallic paper on the back side of clear plexiglas. Viewers are drawn in closer to feel comforted yet disturbed, to wonder if it is science fiction or science illustration, mythology or an updated version of Titian’s master paintings. Tensions are created with hints of sensuality but paused at the detachment.Read More Featured Artist | Paul Pinzarrone

Wenkai Li was born in Shenzhen, China in 1993. She received her MFA in Photographic and Electronic Media from Maryland Institute College of Art (2018). She is a photographer and video creator. For now, she lives in Manhattan, New York. In my artworks, I want to talk about the relationship between the real world and the ideal world. I think the ideal world is always present form people’s spiritual and dreams are the continuation of life and diffusion of perception. So I always use a dream as an entry point. I want to create my own dreamland, which is fulfilled with my personal emotion and my understanding of time, space, and emotion. For me, idealism is a pursuit based on belief. Idealism must be based on the spiritual level, but it does not exclude material. Then, idealism is closely linked with faith and it always from some places where have belief. With the development of society, people become more and more realism because of some specifical reasons. I still remember a sentence from a famous fiction from China: everything is forced by life. If there are so many terrible things in our life, we have to face it. Because have to we face it so that we become realism. This behavior will make us forget the original dream form heart. I am not saying that realism is not good, I just want to say we live in a real world but we still need to keep something beautiful inner.Read More Featured Artist – Wenkai Li

I collect and photograph things that most people would step on or walk right by: tiny seashells, dandelions and other weeds and scraps of old metal and broken glass. All of them bear the marks of their journeys: flaws, cracks, bumps and bruises that are a testament to the tide of life. I create miniature sculptures and let the play of natural light, water and gravity transform them into ephemeral talismans. Water, which is essential to all life and to my work, inhabits and flows through the sculptures reflecting its infinite memory of the people, places and things that it has encountered along the way. It is a meditation on what it means to be transformed by life and all the elements of nature. The camera enables me to see rightly “what is essential and (usually) invisible to the eye.” (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince)Read More Featured Artist – Margaret Hyde
