Jessi Cross

I enjoy living in the borderland between humanity and wilderness, between the city and the open desert. I project my inner world onto nature and find myself within the minutiae of trees, earth, water and sky. Through drawing primarily from live observation and photographs I take in nature, I create detailed mixed media paintings that merge the organic world I see in front of me with the world I experience within myself. This union is manifested by an intuitive and fantastical superimposing of color and figures – animal, human, abstract – onto a natural environment.
