From creative illustrations for corporate clients such as IBM, Titan, Deepam and others, to Storyboards, T-shirts designs, to portraits in charcoal of her favourite footballers, to murals, to graffiti, Yamini Mohan’s creative range is truly diverse.
Yamini has been part of several exhibitions. Her first solo exhibition being in April 2009, at Durbar Hall in Kochi, called “Crossing the Boundaries”, which received accolades in the media and among peers. In 2014, the artist was part of two group exhibitions called “HERSTORY” in at the Durbar Hall Cochin, and the other at the Suryakanti Art Gallery,Trivandrum.
In 2010, the artist was part of two group exhibitions in Bangalore, one called “Shilpa Chitra” held at the Chitrakalaparishath, and the other at the Renaissance Art Gallery.
She is a regular at Kerala Lalitha Kala Academi’s state exhibitions, having appeared in 2006, 2007, 2011 and 2013. For her work named “Iconography”, she was conferred with the Academi’s State Award (special mention) in 2007.
Yamini attends a number of artist camps and workshops. Among them include the Thirunelli-Water Colour Painter’s Camp conducted by Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi held in 2011; Painters Camp 2010 at Hill Palace, Trippunithura, Ernakulum conducted by Kalarang and Centre For Cultural Studies; “Womenscape” painting workshop at Trivandrum in 2008 conducted by Kerala state Women’s Development Corporation; and the National Student’s Workshop at CAVA , Mysore and the Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy Camp at Payyambalam, both in 2007.
The artist was born in Kannur, Kerala. She spent her childhood and academic years in the beautiful Indian state, later graduating from the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum, Kerala, in 2008. She currently lives in Dubai with her husband and daughter.
