I have been painting and drawing since I was a child. After high school, I won a scholarship to the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY. I graduated with a BFA and went on to earn my MFA at Brooklyn College. My biggest influences are Pop Art and Photorealism. My goal as an artist is to capture the viewers’ attention, to draw them into my work and trigger emotional responses. My subject matter varies – still lifes, portraits and urbanscapes. My preferred medium is oils and I often paint from my own photos, reproducing the inherent precision of line, but giving my own interpretation of the image. I use color, perspective and lighting to create powerful, balanced photo-like representations.
