The Day The Earth Stood Still | Mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas | 38 x 38 x 1.50 inches

Steven Long was born in Marion, Ohio in 1951. Long’s love of art began at an early age, nurtured by his mother who was a source of encouragement and direction. Growing up in Central Ohio, his link to the outside art world came in the form of art magazines. Perusing these magazines was both inspirational and directional. Long states that he was always drawn to the abstract works in each issue.

Farbe ist Alles #15 | Acrylic on Canvas | 40 x 30 x 1.5

I was always fascinated with the idea that colors can have an effect on our emotional, physical, and mental states. Examples of this can be found in the expressions, “Seeing Red,” or “Having the Blues.” I like to use bright bold colors set against each other in a geometric structure to create positive motion and energy. I have exhibited in a number of exhibitions over the past year including Van Der Plas Gallery, 440 Gallery, and SITE Gallery in New York City, La Galleria Pall Mall (two different shows) in London and Chie Gallery in Milan Italy. This Spring/Summer (depending on Covid 19) I am scheduled to be at VanDer Plas Gallery, Colorida Gallery (Lisbon, Portugal) and Saatchi-The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles.

Deco Delight | photography enhanced with photoshop | 18x30

I have been expressing my joy of art with paint, shapes and colors since I was very young. I started as a painter, evolved into a photographer, and eventually began hand-painting on my Cibachrome prints over 35 years ago. Before Photoshop I found a way to expressa new magical reality with the vivid, saturated and unrealistic color. I painted into each photographic print.

Rumination 2 | Pen and Ink on Handmade Sheets | 16.5 in * 11.5 in

I was introduced to art at a very young age. Being an introvert, I hardly interacted with the world outside, but my inner world was full of creativity, imagination, and stories. My early memories are of solitary art weekends, drawing portraits from my literature textbooks and painting the dream-like world of compositions. Creating thus became my passion, it was a fuel for my mental simulation. My interest was further cultivated and developed when I opted for a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts followed by a Master’s degree.
