- Guy Romagna – Orange, CT
Guy has received a BFA in painting from Syracuse University and after decades of a successful career as a designer in the textile industry, he is focusing his talents on his fine art, exploring the medium of painting and enjoying the freedom and lack of constraint.
He uses his attraction to light and basic organic forms to paint multiple levels of colors and paint on exaggerated textural surfaces created out of corrugated cardboard. He feels that the repainted and unseen layers of the painted surface influence the observer on a subconscious level and contribute to the emotional experience of the observer in a place deeper than thought. The 3-D compositions are kept simple, being used to create contrasts, building up and editing layer upon layer of paint until a completed feeling is achieved.
The sculpture/paintings are the summation of his observing the ever changing qualities of color and light; a recorded impression over time of changing and subtle moods created by color and then again personalized by the viewer.
Guy currently lives and works in Connecticut.
