Chrystin Albaugh – Q2 Art Competition

Artist Portfolio Magazine – Q2 Art Competition

Collectively, Chrystin Albaugh’s oil paintings encompass an interesting balance of elegance, purity, and grit. Her renderings of representational depictions reveal an array of landscapes, figures, and still-life realism. She incorporates non-representational elements in her compositions also, evident in the series “Blanket Skies”. In this series, desert skyscapes are illuminated with bright pigment. The bright color and linear patterns are akin to those of Navajo weavings seen in the Southwest. In other areas of her work, Albaugh’s compositions may be read as personal, experiential and subconscious recollections. Such examples can be seen in her series “Dreams, Death, and Debates”. Ultimately, she prefers to leave interpretations up to the viewer.
