My work is about confronting the unknown. The things we can never fully comprehend, surrounding and permeating our everyday life. Creating this comparison between the cosmos and the human body gives context to the scope of what we cannot see. This is not something meant to bring fear, but insight.

The use of hands is a direct metaphor for confronting the unknown. It creates tension, because hands are instantly recognizable to us. We know they are attached to someone or something, but we will never see what they are attached too. The feeling of knowing there is something we cannot see creates this tension in us. We crave understanding.

We are constantly rejecting the unknown instead of embracing it. When confronted with something we don’t understand, the reaction is to place judgment on it. Some may even fear it. With the acceptance of the unknown, we can begin to view things from a more universal perspective.
