Karen Lehrer – Santa Barbara, CA
Instagram
Southern California based painter, Karen Lehrer has been pursuing creative artistic expressions since childhood. This former textile designer and stylist, creates nonobjective multi layered paintings with reoccurring themes and patterns. She captures the essence of nature, its shapes, colors and patterns and combines them with her own personal and symbolic vocabulary. Her early career as a textile designer, informed Karen’s curiosity and attraction to repeating patterns and shapes I notice all around me – in design, architecture, and nature.
For many years she been attracted to the random beauty of eroded surfaces. Textures, which result from erosion on man- made and natural surfaces are particularly interesting and exquisite visually, and serve as her current inspiration and interest.
