Catharine A Deever – Olathe, KS
Since the focal point of any environment is not the art but the viewer – everything I create begins with filling my mind and heart with the cares of specific people looking for comfort and encouragement.
In lifting up specific people, my work may also soothe and refresh strangers.
I’m a digital artist . . all of my images begin with a photograph – one I have taken or has been taken by a family member (e.g. my 90 year old mother, whose photographs date back to the 40’s and 50’s). The family member contributing either the foundation photograph – or elements of the foundation photograph for a composite is recognized in my River Dee Designs signature.
Then, the image (or images, if the final work becomes a composite) is scanned into my computer where I layer special effects, paint or draw (with an electronic pad and stylus) . . . something new.
I thank you for allowing me (and through me, my family) to submit a sampling of our work to your Artist Portfolio Magazine, Issue 39. This opportunity allows me to share work that has purpose . . . and the point of view that artistic creation begins with the focus on whom it serves.
