William Reinsch | Essex, UK
@williamreinsch
My name is William Reinsch and I am a figurative painter from Essex, England. My most notable exhibitions have been at the saatchi gallery, the royal academy and the london art fair earlier this year where I was on show with my gallery alongside Frank Auerbach, Grayson Perry and Sheila Fell.
My work’s concentrate primarily with the human form and the psyche. Mortality, anxiety and the mystical are recurring themes I explore. Currently I am working on 2 projects, one of which is ‘The Naked Island’ which is an attempt to create a fleshed out world with it’s own lore and history through the medium of painting as well as collected documents pre 1920’s of unidentified photographs I have purchased and cut up newspaper documents from that period too. The other project is ‘Dream Study’ which are all work’s on aluminium and a place for me to explore surreal idea’s which before I could not find a place for. The dream studies are organized like documents 01-3 or 05-1 for example in order for me to explore each individual idea through as many paintings as I need to.
The work’s I am submitting are 2 ‘Dream Studies’ from the 02 series which both were created during the start of the coronavirus outbreak as a surreal response. The feeling of self isolation and uncertainty represented with the floating or maybe trapped heads which are surrounded by abstract marks and textures (maybe a metaphore for the virus).
