I developed and refined my Post Divisionist style and technique in a series of paintings of women and landscapes. My goal was to utilize the entire surface of the canvas to challenge the viewer’s perception of negative space while borrowing from the Cubist approach to composition. Figures and forms are woven into the fabric of the plane so that space warps into figures and form. The juxtaposition of complimentary colors of thinly applied brushstrokes, over each other, creates a mesh-like pattern, so that figures rise or recede, at times becoming almost invisible.

New Orleans Medium Mixed Media Size 16 by 24

My heritage, my travels and life experiences so far have given me the opportunity of exploring and expressing my ideas and emotions through the media of painting and photography. Through them I hope to visualize and create what I may not be able to communicate through actions or words. I hope to create something unique from the mundane, to celebrate life and share my culture and art with whoever is willing to see and appreciate it.

I present a portrait to my viewer and hope that they see in it what I saw or something completely different and maybe unleash the same emotions in the mind of the viewer, emotions that I felt and enjoyed.

"Lady from Hades"/ww2 squadron nose art Medium mixed media/ with digital lettering Size 11" x 14"

I’ve been an artist since the age of ten but I didn’t discover myself until recently. Although I’ve had art courses and training in Commercial Art, Technical Illustration and The Dayton Art Institute I had a family to look after so at the age of 27 I walked away from art to put food on the table. Five years ago a good friend convinced me to step back up to it for his cigar box guitar business, I was unsure of doing so I hadn’t done any art in so long. But it came back so quickly and I realized what was missing from my life, art makes me happy and complete. Then I slowly discovered my own technique of pencil and white acrylic and how I could come back to realism in that fashion. To be able to bring the eyes of my subjects to life brought back a thrill to my art that I hadn’t known before. Now I wish to share it with the world.
