Nancy Wood – Anniversary Art Exhibition

My work involves experimenting with pigment behaviour. The work of Paul Jenkins inspired me to try something new and to explore fluid acrylics as a vehicle to create pigment effects. I use the viscosity of fluid acrylics to harness the power of pigments to attract or repel each other in a flowing journey of evolving patterns. The explosive energy of hot pinks and reds and the slowly developing nature of blues and green are brought alive in carefully mixed recipes of acrylics and ink.
The lacy or bubbling patterns that form resemble an array of natural micro images often invisible to the human eye as though looking into a microscope. the transient pigment patterns are sometimes as small as an inch square. I capture compositions using a macro lens and enlarge more than a thousand times to produce on off prints that I hand finish using the same pigments that formed the original paint effect.
