Courtney Bae – Portraits Art Exhibition

Courtney Bae was born in Sydney, Australia to a German/American mother and a South Korean father. She studied Fine Arts, Law and Fashion Design at various institutions in both Australia and the US before finishing her studies with a BA in Graphic Design.

Although Courtney’s appetite for painting began in high school, it remained dormant for most of her adult life where she sought out creativity in other formats. In 2008 Courtney moved to New York City where she followed a path as a Visual Merchandiser in the fashion industry. In January of 2016 Courtney launched her professional career as an oil paint and drawing artist.

Courtney’s attention to tactile drapery, print and the importance she places on creating a mood in her work can all be attributed to her experience in fashion. At 3.1 Phillip Lim she worked regularly alongside the designer and at Miu Miu, Prada Group she worked directly with Mrs Prada’s neice, Carolina Prada-Bianchi. The fashion component of her experience has given her a very unique perspective to work from.
