My name is Vanessa Sica and I am a multimedia artist, though I have been focusing more on painting recently.
I like to create art that inspires a story or narrative that exists outside the specificity of the artwork. I enjoy viewer interaction and how the audience can create their own meanings separate to what is shown. My inspiration comes from imagination; a fictitious rendering of reality. I enjoy mythology, fables and fairy tales and I am inspired to create work that inspires a similar distortion of truth.
Recently, I have been exploring the element of curiosity within my paintings. Curiosity is a threshold state, which decides whether or not something new will happen or be learned. I wish to explore the liminality of curiosity through the intermingling of fictitious and non-fictitious elements.
