- Farnaz Rabieijah – Tehran, Iran
My name is Farnaz Rabieijah and I was born in 1981 in Tehran. I grew up in a half artist half physician family. I have studied biology at university, and attended in art courses simultaneously. I have participated in several sculpture and ceramics biennials in Tehran. Studying about modern and contemporary artists around the world made me choose art as my main career. I have attended to several courses under mentorship of Parviz Tanavoli and other art masters in Tehran. I was Mr. Tanavoli’s assistant in Ceramics course which was held in Mah-e Mehr institute in Tehran.
I have held a solo exhibition in Tehran in 2012 at Shirin Art Gallery with the subject “IRAN” and participated in more than 40 group exhibitions and art fairs in Iran and other countries such as UK, USA, Austria, Switzerland, and UAE etc. I was the winner of BAMS (British Art Medal Society) best guest prize in 2012 and my medal is now in the collection of coins and medals in British Museum.
My artworks are made of different material including metal (bronze, iron, brass, and steel etc), ceramics, fabric, Plexiglas and fiberglass. They consist of two main collections “Letters” and “Figures”.
Letters series which represent ideas and believes of a society that may cause to progress or stop progressing, be condemned or even death are mostly made of bronze. “The Golden Gun”, “The Silver Medal”, “Press”, “Taboo”, “Uprising” and “Dominant” etc are some pieces of this collection.
Figures series are made in fabrics or metal, and the main idea is people who are following a leader or an ideology unwisely. “The Shadow” and “The Sky is mine” are included in this collection.
Since 2013 that I have created an artwork which is named “Sweet Shirin” and has been presented in a group exhibition at Shirin gallery NY with the subject of “Miniatures” in New York, I am working on my new collection with the idea of “Eyes and Hearts”.
