Artist: MarvL Roussan – Sheridan, WY
I am an artist who loves the faces of people. The eyes are truly “the window of the soul”. Though I have studied many styles, one thing remains that fascinates me. Color. I am always surprised by the combinations and intensities of color no matter how much I play and work with it. Photographing and painting people of color is my specialty. The rich and vibrant color combinations in the skin tones is absolutely fascinating. It is the inspiration that often drives me.
I was raised in Wyoming, but have lived throughout the United States. Some of my homes include Tucson, AZ, Washington DC, New York City, and San Francisco, CA. Additionally, I spent three months volunteering in Uganda, Africa. It was while living in Washington DC, however, that the “artist” in me came alive. I moved to NYC where I entered the School of Visual Arts. There I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Illustration. Next, I continued on to complete my Masters of Fine Art at The Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Later, I moved back to NYC and pursued my love of photography and painting for the next seven years. In addition to migrating throughout America, I’ve spent time traveling South America, Egypt and Uganda, Africa.
While traveling abroad, I had the honor of photographing a variety of people. Many of these people and their children live in poverty stricken conditions. It is my deepest hope to have done these beloved people some justice in photographing their wonder and beauty.
