Steven Long – Fontana, CA

I am a versatile painter that works in acrylic based mediums to create art using color and texture to draw the viewer into each piece of work. I construct my paintings with multiple layers of color and mediums that are then washed, glazed, scraped or scumbled over a textured surface using brushes, palette knives, trowels and other tools. This texture creates a unique finish to the painting, one that can both be seen and felt. The point of each piece I create is meant to inspire the viewer to bring his or her own emotional responses to the work into play. Working in the abstract form is extremely liberating as there are no rules or boundaries. It offers a great freedom and the result of this allows me to tell the story or make an observation my way. My current work asks you, the viewer, to step back and look once again at the use of color, form and texture.
