Stefan Gougherty – Q1 Art Competition – Artist Portfolio Magazine

I like to create works where nature does all the talking. Trained as an industrial designer, this technical background offers me an unconventional and broad palate to draw upon for my art. The best ideas cannot be conceived, rather they are discovered, most often by accident! My goal as an artist is to try and coax beauty into existence while taking a backseat, allowing nature to drive the process. Ultimately I hope my artwork will hint at a deeper reality that is more profound and magical than we give credit. In a way, I want my artwork to wink at you. I hope to make a living creating beautiful objects that push the boundaries of what’s possible, and through this dialogue with nature create universal works that everyone can be inspired by.
