Artist: Vanessa Aves of Longmont, CO
2013 Portraits Art Exhibition – MyArtContest.com
I just received a Master of Fine Art from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in Philadelphia. Working with a wide array of mediums, my favorites include graphite, charcoal, pastel, ink, watercolor, acrylic and oil paint. I enjoy a wide range of subject matter, using compositions that range from abstract to representational, and everything in between. I mix illustration and fine art together to create my own unique style. Besides writing and publishing my autobiography, Pendulum, I currently work independently. I have taught and offered private lessons for the past seven years in Colorado. My future endeavors include possibly writing a second book and continuing my studies of psychology and art, how they relate and to go back to school to receive my MA in Art Therapy.
After this deeply personal undertaking, I went back to the basics and began to explore the design elements of color and movement. Using ink on a plastic sheet of paper, watercolor and ink play and chase one another around the surface to make unexpected abstractions. Looking deeper into the lighter aspects of my personality has been a fun and liberating experience. These abstracts To an extent, all artists are tortures by our gift and drive to create what is in our souls. I am continuously delightfully surprised by what I find.
