Dongze Huo was born in Xi’an China, Lives in San Francisco United States. Dongze is a Contemporary expressionist painter. His father is an Art dealer who deals with traditional Chinese Arts, jewelry and antiques. His father’s interests and knowledge of Chinese tradition of arts impressed Dongze very much when he was a little boy. Dongze was greatly influenced by the artistic environment in his family. Thus, He started to get interested in paintings in his childhood.

Dongze knows a lot about Chinese history and culture, so he has his own insights and appreciation of aesthetics. He studied Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy in his childhood, and his father taught him how to appreciate Chinese ancient artworks and antiques.

He spent four years in undergraduate study at Xi’an Academy of Fine Art to pursue his favorite subject- oil painting and to advance his skills by serious study and training. He has also tried to discover how to involve Chinese traditional culture and spirits into painting and explored how to better present the reflection of the current ideology of society through art works. However, during that time he became aware of Modern Art and Contemporary Art were popped out especially from America. It is so amazing that Art could be like this when he was a teenager! It strongly impacts the whole world.

Later when he realized his obtaining from undergraduate was simply not enough. He decided to follow his choice, came to United States and got in The Academy of Art University for master art fields. He tries to enlarge his Art standard and finds his distinctive way to express his Contemporary Art world during the academy years in AAU based on his life experience and his knowledge he gained. He builds his advanced career path in fine arts most of life.

By looking at many of the master pieces of world class painting masters, we can tell that their works are not only imitating nature, but rather to reflect upon human nature, based on their observations and insights of life. What an artist really needs is the great passion for art, nature and life, both artistically and spiritually.
