Born in Louisiana, my artwork like my native gumbo, is a mixture of color and emotions. I first began drawing the pictures out of the coloring books as opposed to actually coloring them. After graduating from Grambling State University with a bachelors degree in Social Research and Statistics, I was fortunate to live in New York and really soak in the art landscape- Modern art to multi-cultural expressions– that further cultivated my own art form.
My art is colorful and bold at times, subdued and melancholy at others. I rarely draw facial features. I want the person experiencing the piece to see themselves as if they were in the work of art. I like to experiment with bold color schemes as well as using different mediums together such as paints, beads, fabric paints, fabric and elements from nature.
My artistic goals are simple: Everyone should be able to have original art work that expresses their thoughts, feelings and personalities and not have to worry about cost. She makes art affordable for everyone.
Outside of my passion for art, professionally I have worked as an assistant curator on numerous shows at the New Orleans Museum of Creative Art, The Z Gallery in Memphis Tennessee, Zanzibar Art Gallery and Aquarius art gallery all in Memphis, TN.
Additionally, I’ve worked with grieving youth, who lost a parent, teaching them to express themselves through art in the Kaleidoscope program funded by The Endowment of The Art and, I also taught art therapy with children and teenagers fighting Cancer at St. Jude Research Hospital.
