Artist Portfolio Magazine 5 Year Anniversary Art Exhibition – Open Call for Art
Terry Crump – Houston, TX
Artist Statement
I paint in acrylics on canvas. My work is looser than ever and more direct and spontaneous. I draw with paint pushing my canvases to the edge of pure abstraction without giving up a sense of subject. Objects in my paintings may foster a narrative, one that is not predetermined. I start with one or two subject ideas then add material to the benefit of the overall painting. I combine subject matter, and design elements that both conflict and mingle creating a new visual energy, an experience that is unique and (I hope) tantalizing. My goal is to entice the viewer to take a second look, to find something interesting and unexpected, maybe a shred of meaning.
