Jordan Taylor – Abstracts – Artist Portfolio Magazine

My recent work acts as a sort of record. Sourced from the maps of the places I have lived, worked, and explored, my paintings develop as a meditation on the experiences that have had a lasting effect on me and how they relate to the locations where they occur. As I work through these experiences I attempt to organize them and the complex emotions tied to the paths and lines that people take as they travel through the world. My own lines become hidden among the bustle of the city and stand in solitude against the quiet of my home.

Every different location offers a unique view into the construction of the human world. In approaching each new location I am fascinated with, not only my experiences there, but those of society as a whole. How does this society, with its differences and similarities, passion and hatred, carve out a space for all to live (or not live)?
