Kevin Couto – Q1 Art Competition – Artist Portfolio Magazine

Kevin Couto is a Brazilian artist, deeply inspired by many masters of the Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism and Academism (Michelangelo Buonarroti, Caravaggio, Velázquez, David, Bouguereau, etc …). He began his studies in the atelier of the painter Hilário Silva Neto and later joined in the School of Fine Arts of Rio de Janeiro. He is a profound admirer of Brazilian classical and academic art, also taking inspiration from such names as Vitor Meirelles, Pedro Américo, Belmiro de Almeida, Eliseu Visconti and Rodolfo Amoedo.

He is an artist of multiple abilities, professional actor, musician, composer, writer, painter, among many other activities.

Currently researches Hyper Realism, a movement that unfolded Photo Realism. Among his supporting artists are Richard Estes, Robin Eley, Steve Mills, Roberto Bernardi, Omar Ortiz, Eloy Morales and Alyssa Monks.

His research is based on raising the question of light as a tool of the creative process. The different moments, contours and accidents that can transport the observer to dimensions of solitude, silence or even quiet, through an isolated optics, bringing to the discussion: expressions, moments and objects ordinary to our daily life.

Recently won the 2nd place in the contest New Talents of Painting – 2nd Edition (2015) Organized by the Cesgranrio Culture Center.
