2104 International Art Exhibition – Artist Portfolio Magazine
Yunyun Ma – Luoyang, China
I current work focuses on a cultural diversity of peoples’ personalities that can be observed from the interaction between their living environment and themselves. People who live in Savannah have lovely private gardens surrounding their houses. All gardens somehow link together and form a city garden, and every little space has its own special style. When I walks around, I wants to guess the personality of the owners. Who are they? How do they decide to decorate their spaces?
I is seeking a beautiful unity between people and their living atmosphere-the things they love. In my painting, lines and shapes are borrowed from the natural world but have been translated into an abstracted visual language. In so doing, an imaginary space is formed for viewers to relate to their lives or memories. Vivid plants and house interiors are translated into regular tiny or thin colorful pen and marker lines.
I am a mixed media artist, born in China and currently living in New York. Since early 2001, I started learning Chinese Painting in Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. Harmony is the most crucial aesthetic of a great Chinese art. It is also her motivation. I think about the decisions people make based on their personalities and create paintings depend on her memory.
