Walt Curlee, Shannon Clark & Rose Langford – Landscapes Art Exhibition

2014 Landscapes Art Exhibition – MyArtContest.com

Walt Curlee – Phenix, AL

I have been a freelance illustrator for 25 years and have worked for a who’s who of corporate America including Berol Pencils, Blockbuster Videos, Cirrus Logic, Clark American, Coors, Diamond Shamrock, Duracell, Frito-Lay, GameTek, H. E. B. Brand Grocery Co., Kellogg, Lucasarts, Mattel, MCI, Procter & Gamble, Orkin, Sega Genesis, and Thermos/Warner Brothers.

Born into a military family, I am the oldest of five boys. I started drawing at an early age. Due to my obsession with doodling, I had a tendency to neglect my school work. After 4 years in the Marine Corps, I acquired my art education at the Art Institute’s of Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta. I work from my home studio and enjoy living the country life in rural Alabama, with my wife Vicki. My family consists of my two sons, Rusty (US Army) and Andrew and my two stepsons, Eric and Tim (US Army). I enjoy fishing, hiking, and playing horseshoes.

My art is my livelihood and by purchasing my original paintings, illustrations and prints you help put food on the table for my family (two sons at home, 8 cats, 1 toy yorky, 1 Russell Terrier, 1 peacock, 2 chickens, 2 cockatiels, 2 sun conures, 1 green-cheeked conure, 1 hedgehog, 1 bearded dragon, 1 frog-eyed geckos, my wife and me).

THANK YOU!

Rose Langford – Leichhardt, AL

I grew up in the country where the red earth and rolling hills inspired me. I started painting and playing instruments as a child, and since then music and art have always been my main passions.

I began selling my paintings and prints 25 years ago in NSW and Queensland, and whilst I spent many years working on my art, I was also very involved in the music industry as a Singer/Songwriter for about 15 years.

I held my first Solo Exhibition of my Outback Series in Broken Hill in September 2006 and since then have held 12 Exhibitions in Sydney.

I will be having a further solo exhibition at Westmead Hospital for two months beginning 16th April, 2014. I will be exhibiting two series: The Aussie Outback, and Perspectives in Blue and Green.

My Archibald entry for 2013 “Don Burrows – our National Living Legend” was exhibited at TAP Gallery, Darlinghurst from 1st – 14th April 2013. You can see Don’s portrait in my Gallery in the Archibald category.

I love painting the the rich and vivid colours of the Outback, perhaps because they remind me of home. I enjoy capturing the imperfections of nature, and at times the humour that seems particular to the Aussie bush.

More recently I have found myself focusing closer to home with impressions of Inner Sydney – it’s aspects and it’s characters. Sometimes abstract, sometimes quirky, sometimes moody. In my latest series, Perspectives in Blue and Green, I have explored an almost whimsical aspect and these paintings are more soothing.

I work in acrylics usually, and sell my works through exhibitions, commissions, and word of mouth.

Cheers,
Rose

  1. I like all three – but particularly the Langfords. It’s just as well for me that I live on the age pension, for otherwise all my money would be spent on art.
