Alexandra Lederman – Melbourne, Australia

When thoughts are constantly going around in your head, it often helps to connect the dots. Other times it’s best to move forward and think of something new.
My work begins with a controlled circular image. From here, I branch out into a map of non-sequential shapes, forms and patterns. These maps represent my personal and natural thought process.
The way some forms connect, and some don’t, convey the potential of the minds thoughts and ideas to do this. The result of this process, as represented through geometric and often surreal imagery, presents small ‘worlds’ of a captured imagination.
Viewers are encouraged to move their eye around each piece and develop a personal interpretation. Particular images and symbols may trigger memories or experience personal to each viewer.

I am an artist from Sydney, Australia. I studied a Bachelor of Art Theory at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW.

Since my first exhibition, I have been experimenting with a range of mediums, allowing me to communicate my ideas of the subconcious in a number of ways.
Live painting gives me the opportunity to create a work on the spot, meaning there is more opportunity to express un-planned, natural feelings or thoughts.

I have also started working larger scale, creating some of my ‘worlds’ in bars, cafes and on the street. Working in this way allows the public to view my work and step into a fantasy world away from their normal everyday.
