Artist Portfolio Magazine – International Art Exhibition
Carlos Grasso – Ojai, CA
Artist Statement: “As artists, one of our roles is to be the eyes and voice of the underlying processes that govern the individual (the artist him/herself), the collective (society at large) and nature as a whole. A single piece of artwork is a blueprint of a larger web of interconnections. This specific series “Sacred Spaces” is an exploration of the two modes of reality as we perceive it: the outer or material (represented by the figurative or found object part of the painting) and the inner or psychological represented by the abstraction that serves as a ground for the other.”
Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Lives and works in Ojai, California.
Studied Music, Graphic Arts and Painting in Buenos Aires, Paris and Los Angeles. Began as a professional musician (flute) in Paris in the late 70s and 80s, eventually evolving into drawing and fine arts. His painting apprenticeship started with still-life and portraiture in the classical Old Master’s style under the guidance of master painter David A. Leffel. Later on, his artwork evolved towards pure abstraction.
Grasso’s work has been shown and represented by galleries in Santa Fe, Dallas, Carmel (Portnoy Gallery, Gallery Americana, Parkside Gallery and Phillips Gallery of Fine Art), San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Scottsdale and currently Ojai.
He is a member of the Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA) and the Ojai Studio Artists (OSA).
